WHAT WE DO
COLLECT UNSOLD FOOD
REDISTRIBUTE TO THE LESS FORTUNATE
Our vendors support our mission and kindly donate their unsold food to us for the purposes of minimizing food wastage and allowing us to help the less fortunate with their food donations
Volunteers dedicate their time to safely package and label all food in preparation for delivery
Partnered with several churches who hold community lunches and dinners for the unfortunate
PREVENT HOMELESSNESS BY PROVIDING CHILDREN WITH AN EDUCATION & AID WITH SPEECH PATHOLOGY
MacKillop Foundation and OzChild are foster care and orphanage services in Melbourne AUSTRALIA. Children who need speech pathology services are often those who have been traumatised for reasons such as abuse and each need an education for growth and future job employment. TBOS seeks students in the field to dedicate their time for one on one opportunities with a child from either foundations to prevent the issues of homelessness.
How does this prevent homelessness?
Children will be inspired by student volunteers to be better, innovative and confident. Unfortunately when children reach a certain age, they are no longer considered children and shelter is no longer provided. With help from TBOS there is more HOPE for employment and security.
"not to change the world, but to change someone's world....as one"
In 2016 Two Birds One Scone was founded and established by La Trobe University's Law/Finance student Melissa Lee. With her vision to make a difference Two Birds One Scone has since, saved over 3 tonnes of food and has fed hundreds of unfortunate and homeless families in Melbourne, Australia. All possible with the help of many student volunteers and great leaders who have played large roles in its progress.
Why 'Two Birds One Scone'?
Concept of accomplishing two things at once. We minimize both current issues of food wastage and hunger. Therefore feeding two birds with one scone.
Two Birds One Scone has created an awareness which was ignored for too long and has over 350 student volunteers who can physically see the abundant amount of food that they save during their collection schedules. They see the difference they can make by volunteering and given our processes happen on campus, volunteering with us means they can do so between their study time.
To expand our organization nationally throughout all universities in Australia so together we can make an effective difference with food waste and work towards minimizing hunger in our communities. In turn our mission will continue to create opportunities for university students to be leaders, to work in teams, to be caring and be selfless individuals.
